What's being doneApart from filling the bases of unstable structures with sand and building trenches to counteract the rising groundwater, the Supreme Council of Antiquities has been allowed a grant from the World Heritage Fund in able to increase reconstruction as well as offer reimbursement for farmers being pushed away from the ruins. Though this isn't the first case of structures sinking in clay, especially in the Mediterranean region, it is the first to be undergoing this development and will hopefully act as a model when the time comes to help restore other sites.

How to helpThere aren't many things we can do to significantly help, but getting this information around would certainly be a start. Abu Mena is not the first, and will not be the last, location to suffer these conditions. More acknowledgement needs to be given in order to save our history. Other possible suggestions would be donating to the World Heritage Fund or volunteering with the Supreme Council in order to help dig holes and drainage to counteract the water leading to Abu Mena.

DonationsDonations can be given to UNESCO World Heritage fund in order to help cites like these all around the world.
